This service is another way to keep tonnage down. Leaves and yard waste can be quite heavy. By offering this separate pickup we are able to keep it out of our landfills thus keeping fees down. Yard Waste is picked up on Wednesday (April through October ) and should also be placed in an open container. Leaves are picked up on Fridays (October and November). Check the newsletter calendar for collection dates!
Whether it is in an effort to save energy or reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, many people have made the switch to CFL bulbs. Qualified CFL bulbs use up to 75% LESS energy then incandescent light bulbs and last up to 10 times longer! While this is an effective, accessible change anyone can make, you should know that CFL bulbs contain a very small amount of mercury, sealed within the glass tubing; because of this, they should be recycled. Please bring CFL bulbs to the borough office for proper disposal, there is NO additional fee for this service.
Once a year, in the spring, a trailer is furnished by La Farge for our annual Borough wide tire drop off. While there is a limit of 6 tires per household; this is a free service for all residents. Tires from automobiles, pick-up trucks, and vans, but no large trucks, ATV’s, motorcycles, or bicycles. The borough has an ordinance in place which forbids the collection of tires on any property; this is because of the threat of West Nile Virus. If you have accumulating tires on your property and miss this years drop off contact one of our local car repair shops; there is a minimal fee for each tire. Once a date is determined, it will be posted here, check back often.
